Why I Teach

Updated: May 11, 2020

The connection I made here with my students was incredibly enriching and fulfilling. Being a witness to their transformation with and through yoga was indeed something special to behold.

Honestly, I never thought or wanted to become a yoga teacher. I became a teacher thanks to the insightful recommendation of my own yoga guru. She saw something inside of me that I did not know existed. She did not tell me to become a teacher to sell me a teacher training package or to influence who I am (actually, she never made a dime off me and probably lost money when she gave me her classes to teach). She would often tell me, “Andrew, I love to teach” and I could feel the genuine and earnest energy in those simple words. I am eternally grateful for the gift that she gave me.

I love to teach too! I don't do it for the money, accolades or recognition. I do it because I genuinely enjoy helping people. Watching them overcome obstacles and grow is worth more than anything to me.

As I have shared many times before, I personally understand the power and impact that yoga can have on an individual's life. I don’t take my role as a teacher lightly. I always gave you the most genuine and dedicated version of me on and off the mat. No pretense. No phony quotes. No heavily meditated TV cliché’ yogi. My passion for teaching is firmly rooted in the belief that intense yogis make true headway in yoga.

I appreciate you for accepting me as the intense and demanding teacher that I am. I truly never thought that my style would resonate so loudly with some.

Now, I am off to engage new challenges, create new communities and fill up my own cup so I can continue to serve my students in my own unique way.
